The One Year Book of Psalms: 365 Inspirational Readings From One of the Best-Loved Books of the Bible

Having spent the last 2 years reading the Bible within a year, I was burned out and feeling as if my knowledge had grown but not my relationship with the Lord and not my prayers. Then I was moved to try something different.What a wonderful way to spend a year in praise with this book being so helpful. I did a ton of research before picking this book because it checked all the important boxes. Plenty of room to write notes and prayers. I also slowed it down to spend time on more complex psalms, like 119, but then caught back up to stick to the dated pages. Overall, this book has been a blessing. I’m praying more than ever and feel closer to the Lord. Although I’m planning to spend 2024 in Proverbs, I know I’ll be returning to Psalms again and again.

As a church musician, I especially appreciated the daily references to hymns. It was interesting to identify them, since most excerpts were not from first stanzas!

A woman I visit regularly in assisted living received this book and she loves it. She reads it every day. It would make an excellent gift to someone who like to read the Bible.

This is my 3rd favorite book. I stumbled upon it in a book store and fell in love with it. I lent it to a friend of mine and it was never returned, not because she forgot or moved, but because she uses it regularly and I told her to keep it. I've found it to be an amazing gift that can impact my unbelieving friends spiritual lives and will hopefully cultivate a garden some day. It was a great gift for my pastor because it has so many illustrations, poems and historical facts he can use in his sermons. Whenever I order from Amazon and I am just short of free shipping I add this on so I always have some on hand at home to give as a gift.

I've made it through 3 months so far, and I'm very much liking this devotional. While I don't care for the version of the Bible used, that's a problem in the majority of Christian books these days, and one I easily solve simply by reading the text in my own Bible. I do enjoy the commentaries for each day's devotion; I find them thought provoking, bringing out parts of the Bible text that I hadn't really thought of and really getting me to think about what I'm reading. This approach to the Psalms opens them up to me on a level I hadn't really approached before, hitting home and becoming very personal. I especially like the cross-references they have after many lessons, asking questions and having the reader go to other texts to really bring out the topic they were teaching; this isn't an approach I've seen done too often in many modern devotionals. This one has some substance to it, and isn't just another "read part of a verse, then read a cute little story about being a better person" kind of devotional; I found the One Year Psalms to be a true devotional with a solid biblical foundation.

I love Psalms and each page also has an Devotion with Notable Quotable quotes. Also, Fascinating Facts, Bible Networking, A Word on Words. You can glean so much from this. I would highly recommend to you.

The translation used in the New Living Bible (everyday English) - Each psalm is broken into a few verses each day with a commentary or story to help comprehend the psalm - I use it along with my ESV translation and notes to get a more complete study from it - The y are broken down in short enough sections to spend time reading and thinking about during the day. I found the book very well done and most helpful in learning more about the psalms and how to apply them to my life... Would definitely but book again

I love the layout of this book. The Psalm text is on the left-hand side of the page with a devotional, a small word study and quotation on the right side. Nice paper quality. Big, readable font. The NLT is an easy-to-read translation but some of the psalms that I was familiar with seemed less "rich" in the NLT with many of the words we've come to know changed to a (for lack of a better word) simple word. For deep study, this isn't the book you want but as a devotional or light study, it's a terrific book.

This is a brilliant yet gentle read that gives insightful comments which are inspirational and encouraging from the book of psalms.I purchased a used book through amazon and it was in new condition at a very reasonable price.

It is an excellent book and has some tremendous daily illustrations to not only encourage people to to make then really think about what they are reading
