I got a used product the first time but got it replace it’s good (edited)
Original (2/5 stars) (first photo)It looks like I got this used even though I bought it new. It was missing the package that protect the cover like the video in the other review show. It doesn't look as bad as the other review, but the binder is lop-sided. The ring part refused to be on the side. The third flap kept moving up and it's going to be in the way when you write. I was planning on using it as a sketchbook, but the flap is going to bother me. I was hoping it would be an affordable a5 leather ring binder option but there's too many cons and the fact it look like it was used and thrown in a in shipping bag makes not want it. The only thing I like is the string closure and the quality of the leather for the price. It feels nice to touch.Replacement (5/5) (second photo)I got it replace to give a second chance. I was worry it will still have the similar problem like the first but it’s was way better. I think I got a used and defective product. The first one was lop-sided where the ring is laying flat instead of on its side which makes it close in a weird way. I was hoping I can fix it, but the leather is stuck folded in a certain way that it’s hard to fix the lop-sidedness. My replacement came in a box this time, so I know it’s not used. The ring is actually on its side like the product which I prefer. It has less scratches and dents on it. The only dent is from the strap. It doesn’t bother me because it’s not as bad as the first one. Usually not many ring bringer got strap closure because it cause the dents near that area. However, I was set on getting an A5 ring binder with string closure similar to a traveler notebook. I’m using it as a sketchbook and the third flap doesn’t bother me because it’s flappy. You can make that third flap lay back to make it get out of the way. I don’t know what to use the calendar insert for. I didn’t know it come with it. I was hoping it was regular line, dot, or blank paper. With the third flap, the tabs doesn’t make sense. It makes it hard for the pen to be in there and takes up more space in the side. I don’t care about that pen loop because it lays in a weird way used and not used. It doesn’t make sense for me to be in that spot. To prevent the dent from the string closure near the ring area, the seller need to add a thick paper in the front and back inner pocket instead of just adding paper under the ring because it’s not enough with how floppy the leather is. The leather still feel nice and soft. It will scratch easily, and I prefer make my own scratch over recieving an already scratched and used item.

So glad I grabbed this!
I know this one goes in and out of availability. Luckily, I was able to pick this up during a recent availability window. So, glad I did.Have you ever wanted a Traveler's Notebook, but with six rings instead of strings? Well, this is the planner for you.The leather is great. Thick and supple. And with a fantastic "new shoe" smell. Like a TN, it has that wonderful surface that will develop its own patina, over time, depending on how you use it.I had used Wanderings paper before. It's thick, 120 gsm paper. Perfect for the constant page turning that occurs in a planner. It also holds up well to fountain pen. But it also does to many other inks. Including gel, rollerball, ballpoint and FriXion (my favored choice for a planner). However, two caveats about the paper:First, and this is a pretty big deal, THE PAPER IS NOT A5! Sorry, Wanderings, but you can call it A5 as much as you want, but it's not. The height is right. But the width is too narrow. This means if you want to use it with other A5 that paper will hang over the edged and look messy. Or you'll have to trim it. Bummer.Second, not as big a deal, the planner comes with undated monthly and weekly planner pages, and some lined and dot grid paper. If you wanted dated planner pages from Wanderings, you need to buy those separately and they'll run you about $14. Plus, both lined and dot-grid paper has the word "Notes" printed at the top. Wanderings does sell paper without that "notes" at top. But, again, that will cost you extra money. And you'll probably want to get the paper from Wanderings, if you're using any of their paper, because of the odd sizing.I did end up getting the dated pages. I will review those elsewhere.Only one real negative about the planner, is it doesn't really fit side tabbed dividers. It will fit top tabbed dividers. Kind of. But I don't like the way they look in this planner. I've taken to using untabbed dividers. But, if you love tabbed dividers, this isn't the product for you.For everyone else, buy this if you have any interest. The price is amazing and it lives up the key expectations.

Best value for notes and calendar
This my favorite day timer/ planner. It’s refillable and the pages of notes or calendars I can save from year to year. The real cowhide is impressive and the thick paper is very nice to write on. I bought dividers separately to keep things organized.

compact size
If you're looking for a minimalist planner cover in a small form factor this is it. The leather is of good quality, so far the rings have held up well and seem sturdy. The planner paper it comes with is sturdy, though I don't really care for the page layouts. Using the entire planner paper they provide is a little too bulky for the ring size. I pulled 6 months worth out and just use 6 months at a time and it is a lot easier to work. I find the pen loop to be in a perfect spot for how I use it. I'm unsure of the elastic closure, I can see that wearing out long before the rest of the planner, but not a huge deal. The cardboard inserts that are fastened in-between the ring backbone and the leather is a pain, I cut those flush so they didn't interfere. The interior pockets are a nice add. I'm extremely happy with my purchase and use it daily. With a little adjustment to a hole punch you can adapt another brands 7 ring inserts to fit this ring format, or use standard 6 ring fills. I mainly got this because of its small size, its not overly bulky for what it needs to be, its just barely larger than the paper and keeps them protected, that's all I needed and wanted and this fits that need in a stylish manner.
