I've always had one of these around for retrieving a dropped bolt in an engine compartment, but I haven't been able to find one locally. After losing a small spring from my paint sprayer down the bathroom sink drain, I was hoping not to have to take the whole drain apart.I saw this sold as a drain pipe cleaner, and thought, "what the heck, I need one around anyway." When I opened it, I was surprised at the heavy duty feel, and even wondered if it would fit down the drain. It did, and in a couple of minutes I pulled out that lost spring.Works great, and I expect it to basically last forever.

This product works great! I had a slowly draining shower stall and used this to clear a lot of stuff from the drain, which now flows smoothly. It's very made and creates a strong grip to collect whatever's blocking the drain. I'm super happy with it and at $9.99, it's a total bargain! My only recommendation is to not do this before eating because you will probably lose your appetite!

I sucked up something in my vacuum cleaner and I couldn't get it out of the hose. As soon as I received Dr. Pen's draining cleaning tool, I opened it and put it to work. And just like that, I got my vacuum cleaner back in working condition. It was a bit hard for me to push down and hold the hose at the same time though.

I was actually really surprised how well this worked as there was a lot of hair in the shower drain. This tool removed it all in one chunk and I didn't even have to touch the nastiness that came out of that drain. LOVE this product and so glad I found it.

Good tool, but as others said, it has a flaw. First let me say that most of these retrievers with a black shaft are identical, regardless of brand. And, they are longer and better than the cheaper, silver versions. This one is fairly well made for the price, but it's hard to use. Now, to be clear, I did not buy this as a drain cleaner. I needed a retriever for confined spaces. Now the issue - The spring. The coil spring on this is way too strong. Even if you have a strong grip as I do, pushing this plunger is absurdly hard. Someone with a weaker grip will not be able to operate it. My wife can't push it at all. They use these overly strong springs to allow it to grip and hold heavy weights, to make the specs look better. But, I doubt you will need the ability to lift bricks or heavy items while cleaning drains or retrieving dropped bolts etc. This simply needs a weaker spring to be a five-star tool, but until then, I don't recommend.

Okay just to let you know I have purchased two of these. One for my house and one for my boyfriend's condo. My boyfriend has long hair and keeps it well maintained but has been complaining about his dream from his shower / tub draining very slowly so I purchased one for him to keep it his condo. And I decided to test it out while he was painting his living room I snaked the tub in the bathroom and pulled out what looks like Chewbacca's cousin... ha ha, the people with long hair can definitely relate. I called him into the bathroom and showed him what I pulled out of the drain and he was totally surprised. And then I cleaned out the tub and tested it out filled up the tub and wouldn't you know that water drained so perfectly it definitely was not slow it went down with ease the clogs were removed and now he is a functioning shower that he is very happy with. I will say the quality of this product is really nice I like the fact that it's wrapped in a heavy coating and the trigger mechanism to open the claw was fairly easy to use as well. Like I said I have two now, one at his house and one at mine.

Dropped an AirPod down my bathroom sink drain. Ordered this and it was delivered the next day as promised. Only took two attempts to retrieve the earbud from the u-trap even though I couldn’t see it. After cleaning it with alcohol, it’s charging and will hopefully work! I thought all was lost or that we were going to have to disconnect the drain to find it. Very happy with this purchase.
