Nicer than your regular plastic sand shovels
We ordered these shovels for my kids to play with at the beach. They are nicer than the regular beach shovels but I was expecting them to be a little thicker since they are labelled as heavy duty. I would consider them to be a medium thickness, geared more toward smaller kids.

My two little granddaughters have already had fun with these cute shovels in our little backyard pool, and we plan to take them to the beach to use there as well. They are just what I was looking for. Big enough to scoop sand (and pool water, as it turns out), but small enough for little hands.

These are nice and heavy, not flimsy. I think it would take my son quite a lot of effort to break them. They're actually really large scoops, they can fill our buckets very quickly and can scoop way too much water and have been removed from the bath time toy bucket.
