Fantastic

Works great, just keep it plugged in and you're golden

Fast and quiet

Just what I needed to extend my network. Normally a little warm but hot under load. Make sure you do not cover it up and you will love it,

Good, but not perfect.

This switch works well, and is fanless, so it's quiet. The one complaint I have is that the power connector is an oddball size, which complicates things needlessly if you want to do something like power it with a PoE adapter or replace the power supply.

Reliable. Made in Taiwan. Runs very warm

This 5-port 10GbE runs warm but it’s silent in contrast to the 8-port model (which I also have). I have low concern about the device itself and heat generation but in an enclosed environment, the surrounding electronics may not like the heat generated by this device. Adding some external cooling may be helpful.

Loop detection breaks this switch, now dropping connection constantyl

UPDATE: Aside from the design flaw, it has now started to lose connection about once a day requiring you to cycle the power. It's really unstable. I don't know if it's a heat related issue because it feels very hot. AVOID. Really disappointed in this productThe switch has no way to disable it's poorly implement tree. The loop detection breaks operation with devices. I a mesh wireless network with backhaul. When you plugin the satellite mesh device it immediately thinks there's a loop and both the input signal port and the port for the mesh device are in operable. So, basically you can't use several devices with this switch due to this awful design.

Perfect "plug & play", excellent quality.

Perfect "plug & play", worked immediately out of the box. No issues.

Worked fine for about 6 months, then it failed miserably.

Had this switch for 6 months during which it worked perfectly fine. Fast forward last week and I started having a completely crippling experience with the home network where I could not even work at all. I had to disconnect every single device from the network with the exception of the 2 work computers so we could at least do some work, and even then connection was so-so. I have a 2.5G connection so this was pathetic. I blamed the router and ISP because this is an unmanaged switch, should have been a no brainer. However, during troubleshooting with the ISP, I noticed that if I was connected directly to the modem, speeds were fine. Directly connected to the router, when the next hop was directly the modem, it was fine. The issue only occurred when the path was through this switch. I tested then connecting through a replacement TP-Link switch I have (which I don't recommend either since its ports tend to die as soon as there is any sort of power failure in the home) and while on the TP-Link I had downstream speeds of 2.3Gbps. On the TRENDnet I had 40 Mbps. Interestingly, upstream speeds were perfectly fine at 2.3Gbps. Seems that somehow the downstream direction got messed up on this switch for at least one of the ports. This also came out of nowhere, since there weren't any particular events (power outages, lightning, etc). it just stopped working all of a sudden. Furthermore, when I had the issue with TPLink, that company replaced the switch and also absorbed the cost of shipping back the failed unit and the new unit as well. In the case of TRENDnet, they want you to cover shipping to them, of course tracked and insured. If their switch is going to last 6 months, and they are not going to absorb the cost of shipping their failed hw back to the garbage pile, I have to say that it is a worthless brand for expensive equipment. I will leave TRENDnet just for 50-dollar gear or less. Something I'm not going to miss too much. If shipping of failed units was absorbed by them, I would maybe reconsider them, but if I have to spend at least 30 USD every 6 months, I would rather spend that in a switch that will last through that instead of having to replace it over and over

Not compatible with multiple wired Eeros

The built-in loop detection on this router is not compatible with multiple wired Eeros; it will disable each network ports with an Eero plugged into them at any time, due to detecting a momentary 'network loop' and killing the port before the Eeros can finish switching from wireless to wired backhaul. Use the S350 instead.
