We ordered the 720p camera that mounts on the license plate at the back of the truck based on reviews, and installed this on our 2016 Nissan Frontier SV King cab 4cyl without a backup camera but has a factory 2 DIN stereo/radio with a 4.3" display.We also did a lot of research and ordered a separate wiring harness (AX-NIS-ADDCAM1) to hook up this camera to the existing stereo and also bought 1/4" split loom to protect those thin wires on the outside of the truck (15 to 20’ should work). We were pleasantly surprised that this whole setup works.Here is what we did: On the back of the stereo, RCA goes to RCA, red trigger wire on the extension wire goes to the green trigger wire on the harness. We taped the yellow and black leads on the harness as we did not use those.At the back of the truck, we connected the camera’s red wire to the reverse light’s positive/red wire and also tap that to the trigger wire on the RCA extension cable (red wire). The black wire goes to the negative/black wire on the reverse light.Not sure how long this camera will last, but so far so good with some light rain on it, and I plan to update this review if it fails too soon. to put it blunt, it was easy to install and get workingthe camera provides a pretty wide view and was easily mounted on the license platejust follow the instructions in connecting the cables, its that easy.its also really bright at night so seeing isn't an issue.

edit 2: my concerns about the bracket were well founded. We took the car through an automatic car wash and it bent. I was able to bend it back at least.edit: bumping up to four stars. the companycontacted me and offered a full refund for the trouble I had with the cable. Much appreciated. They also offered to send me a new cable (not needed since I repaired the old one).On initial install the camera was flaky, which I traced to the rca connector on the screen side. I guess I damaged it fishing it through the dash. The camera works well after soldering a new connector on the cable.I worry about how easily the mount can be bent. This makes it easy to adjust, but it might get knocked and then the guidelines will no longer be accurate.

This product is perfect. It’s extremely easy to install, even for someone like me who doesn’t know squat about this kind of stuff. It’s literally 2 wires and plugs directly into the back of my Sony XAV-AX5000. It comes with 2 mounts : license plate mount and smaller mount. Both sturdy! Picture quality is awesome. Camera is a little bigger than I expected but it’s still a steal for the price! I’m very satisfied!

Very easy to install mounts behind the license plate and can be adjusted slightly. Hooked directly to my car radio so I did not have to buy a monitor as this unit doesn't come with one. This was an upgrade from their other camera I ran so I didn't have to run new cable. Well worth the money

Update December 2020:I was experiencing an intermittent loss of camera image. I contacted the seller and they promptly shipped me a replacement kit free of charge, under warranty. The seller was quite courteous and kept in touch with me throughout the replacement shipment process. I was impressed with their quick response to my warranty claim. Would not hesitate to buy from this seller again.Original Post:Device seems rugged, as does the wiring and connectors. The device terminates to two connectors, and you are supplied with two long wire bundles, one bundle for each of the two connectors.One connector and its wire bundle terminates with a red/positive wire, and a black/ground wire. The positive wire is to be spliced into the vehicle’s reverse/backup light positive/hot wire. The black/ground wire can be attached to the vehicle chassis, or to the reverse/backup light’s ground wire. This is done so that the camera and its LED lights are turned on, only when the vehicle is in reverse. The length of this wire bundle was sufficient to span the distance from the device, to the driver side backup light. I installed the device on a minivan, so this wire needed to run up the length of the rear hatch to the headliner and down to the backup light’s quarter panel.The other connector is an RCA-plug style yellow female connector. There is also a length of red wire on both ends of the wire cable, one end being a short length of red wire, and the other end was longer. The longer length is intended to be spliced into the vehicle’s reverse/backup light. The other end is attached to your radio’s vehicle-reverse-sensing wire. This is how your radio knows the vehicle is in reverse, and will switch its display to show the camera video.Unfortunately the length of the longer red wire was not long enough to span the distance to the backup light. I simply extended the length by joining another wire to the original.This setup means that you attach a red wire from each of the two bundles to the backup light’s 12 volt positive wire.There are YouTube videos out there that explain how to determine which of the two vehicle harness wires going to the reverse light is the hot wire. I used a multimeter. I attached the red probe to one terminal, the black probe to the other. With the vehicle in reverse, the multimeter reads the 12 volt current. If it displays negative 12 volts, then swap the red and black probes so that you read positive 12 volts. The red probe from your multimeter will now be attached to the positive terminal. This is the terminal you want to splice your two red wires into.For me, this was a day-long effort, to fish the wires from the camera bracket, through the tailgate, header, quarter panel, along the driver side of the interior compartment and to the radio area.One quibble with the camera bracket. By attaching the device to the license plate screws as intended, the black horizontal bracket runs across the top of my license plate, between the screws. The bracket obscure’s most of the my state’s name, which is printed on the top of my license plate. You can make out the name if you’re standing behind the vehicle anyway, and the license plate letters of course are not affected. But I don’t know if my state’s car inspection routine will have a concern that it’s harder to read the state name. If I fail inspection, I’ll have to cobble together something that raises the bracket to be above the license plate.

(Please read update below.)After all the pains of installation due to the laughable installation instructions (a picture page of the pieces involved with very little relation to reality plus Chinese-English text that pretty much said, “Install here”), the actual camera sends no image to the head unit. Tested all circuits, used CCTV monitor, all wiring of good, camera is DOA. I have contacted eRapta.New:ERapta reached out to me via email. They have refunded the original purchase price and have promised me a replacement camera. I can’t give the product a complete review until I receive the camera, but the customer service is good.

Instructions can be better however I’m good with this stuff so no problem. Image in day light is good, night time is alright. Dead says HD but it’s not really had but it is clear enough
