Lodge, still made in USA
After seeing my Lodge 10-1/4" cast iron skillet, which is decades old and in perfect condition, my grandson requested one just a little bit larger for his Christmas gift. He wants to use it on his Traeger grill. After checking to see what sizes were available, this 12" skillet is the next size up so I ordered it. I like the second helper handle on a skillet this large and heavy. It also includes a removable silicone handle cover.I didn't consider any brands other than Lodge. Lodge is the traditional heavyweight cast iron cookware and these are still made in Tennessee, USA. With minimal care they last forever; one of mine was my mother's. They come pre-seasoned, but I always season them again in the oven a couple of times before I start using a new one. With repeated use the finish gets black and smooth, and you know they're perfect then. Hand wash only, dry promptly, and don't let it soak in the sink. To season, wipe all surfaces evenly with a paper towel that has some canola or vegetable oil on it. Apply only a very thin coat of oil, not nearly enough to run or puddle or it will turn out sticky. Bake at 450 for an hour or more and leave it in the oven til cool. Works like seasoning a Blackstone griddle. The more you cook in it the better the seasoning becomes.I was hoping the skillet would be packaged in a Lodge box, as it's for a gift, but it arrived in an amazon box which is no big deal and doesn't affect the skillet at all. The insert, helper handle, and bottom all say Lodge. It looks great and the quality seems the same as my very old ones, a rare thing today. It's a good value, not expensive for what you're getting.

Its Lodge. You know its good
First and foremost, the Lodge Cast Iron Skillet is made with exceptional quality. Lodge has been making cast iron cookware for over 120 years, and their expertise is evident in the durability and craftsmanship of this skillet. The 12-inch size is perfect for cooking a variety of dishes, from sautéing vegetables to searing steaks. One of the standout features of this skillet is the red silicone hot handle holder. This addition is a game changer when it comes to handling the skillet, as it provides a safe and comfortable grip, even when the skillet is hot. The silicone handle also adds a pop of color to the classic black cast iron, making it an attractive addition to any kitchen.Another benefit of cast iron cookware is its natural non-stick surface, which only gets better with use. With proper seasoning, this skillet becomes a reliable and versatile tool for cooking. It can even be used on the stovetop, oven, grill, or campfire, making it a great option for those who enjoy cooking outdoors. In terms of maintenance, the Lodge Cast Iron Skillet is easy to clean and care for. After use, simply wipe it down with a damp cloth or brush, dry it thoroughly, and apply a light layer of oil to maintain its non-stick surface.Overall, I highly recommend the Lodge Cast Iron Skillet with Red Silicone Hot Handle Holder, 12-inch for anyone looking for a high-quality, versatile, and attractive cookware option. Its durability, functionality, and design make it a worthwhile investment for any home cook.

Great Skillet
So far this skillet is living up to expectations. It's very heavy, which is always to be expected of a quality cast iron skillet, and it heats up evenly and cleans up easily. It's a great value for the price.

Nice skillet and will last
Awesome skillet and will last a long time. People complain about the weight but it is a big piece of iron. It has the assist handle on the other side if weight is an issue so you can use 2 hands. The silicone hot handle is loose so if I have to pick it up I use a towel or oven mitt.

PERFECT DESCRIPTION
I love this Cast Iron Skillet. It is a bit heavy but, it is the best quality in a Cast Iron Skillet. The skillet is pre seasoned so it is easy to clean. It is a beauty, I have used it 5 times already and only had it a week.

Big, and a little unwieldly, but cooks well
I bought this skillet on the basis of many, many positive recommendations and reviews. I needed a second large skillet for cooking burgers, grilling flatbreads such as chapatis, and just general cooking and sauteing. The skillet does come pre-seasoned, however you really should bake additional layers of oil onto the skillet to enhance the non-stick qualities of the cast iron. The Lodge website is very helpful if you need more information on cleaning and maintaining the skillet. Food, such as beef burgers, can stick and burn on, but fortunately, the residue can be scraped off with a plastic pan scraper or nylon spatula. The best thing about this skillet is that it does heat evenly and can get to a very high temperature more efficiently than most nonstick aluminum or stainless steel skillets. My main complaint is that it is very heavy, which can be a problem when trying to empty food out of it into a serving dish. You can get much lighter cast iron, but it tends to be very expensive. This Lodge skillet is very reasonably priced and certainly does the job. I'm adding it to my weight-lifting routine, though!

Great quality and price!
I use cast-iron pans on a daily basis and have been for years. I needed another 12-inch pan for cooking for 6-people and you can't go wrong with Lodge products. If you take care of it, it will last several lifetimes!
