My Pick for Secretary of Dept of Floor Management
“Sallie Jo” started her position about a month ago. The interview process was several months of reviewing resumes of hundreds of robovacs. Day one, it took about 10 minutes to get her office set up and sign in to the communications center. I let her take a break and recharge for about three hours. I used that time to get acquainted with the app. It was relatively easy to understand and set up.The app will let you determine sequence of cleaning, such as vac only, vac/mop at once, or vac then mop, let you decide which rooms will get what when, and virtually tell Sallie Jo which areas to just stay away from-like the hearth- I don’t want her to roll up onto the brick because of the small stones, etc.Once she was fully charged, I asked her to make a map of the house. Within about 15 minutes she mapped out our entire downstairs (approx 1800 SqFt). It was amazing to see such detail! Unbelievable! It took me about 3 mins to name the rooms on the map. Before her first clean, I made sure all the dog toys, cords, small items and rugs were picked up because I wanted to do a full deep clean. I set her up to vacuum everywhere well with two passes and then to mop everywhere. You can select how strong the suction needs to be from room to room, how detailed you’d like her to be, etc. I asked her to be as detailed as possible. The process took her several hours to complete. She did an incredible job! The floors were clean, the area rugs were clean. The “dirty water” collection container water was dirty! 🤮. It used about 1/3 of the clean water. I used only water. She cleaned and dried the mop pads as requested. I knew ai had hired the right one for the job!Her weekly routine is to do a weekly deep clean (sweep and mop everywhere ), a daily high traffic sweep and a weekly mop in high traffic areas. She is always right on time and the daily week takes maybe 20 mins. That deep clean takes several hours because she goes back and forth to dump dust and then discard and refill water while mopping. Our house is 100 yrs old and the floors get pretty dusty. Top that off with two shedding dogs and it was a daily sweep down for me. We have a combination of hard wood, area rugs and tile. She recognizes the different surfaces and adjusts accordingly. One of the things I cringe about the most is being able to see the dust and such that is under furniture that I couldn’t get to with the broom-but was too lazy to get unless company was coming. I did notice she was not as efficient when she sweeps and mops at once, so I asked her to sweep and then come back to mop. This helped so much with the up and down of the mop pads, and the back and forth to and from her desk. The final result was the same. Just a preference thing. I have not added any cleaning product to the clean water basin, and really haven’t felt the need. I may at some point just because 🤷🏻♀️.Now, after about a month in, and Sallie Jo has gotten into such a good routine, I have a good feel of her work ethic. She follows instructions perfectly! She is never late and completes tasks. Occasionally she has gotten a little confused about where to go and decided the walk in shower needed love as well-but then stayed in there. It seems that she was just not able to get up enough speed from inside the shower to get herself over the little hump to come out. Maybe she was just thinking she’d like a shower and fell asleep waiting..the world will never know. But after telling her not to go back into the shower, she hasn’t again. Such restraint she has!!Despite the good bit of dust and dog hair that usually graces us on a daily basis, our floors are clean! So far, I haven’t needed to change the dust bag (but I do have to peep sometimes when I want to see just what all she got up). The small collection area with the filter has also stayed pretty darn free of stuff. One rock which is how I learned to keep her away from the brick fireplace hearth. Even with dog hair, my hair, and general whatever it is that just ends up on our floors, I’ve not had to clean the roller one time! The areas under the furniture that you see from several feet away when the light hits it just right? You know, that looks like it would spin into a dirt devil if the wind hit is just right? Sallie Jo took care of it. My sofa was an issue because it is 5” off the floor. Sallie couldn’t get under there because of the Navi that sits on top. I bought new feet and raised it up one inch (small price to pay for a clean floor) and now, she easily cleans under there as well! I do empty the dirty water after mopping just for the smell factor and spray some something in there to help keep it clean. I refill the clean water doo dad every week before deep mop day just to be sure she has what she needs. All in all, I can say Sallie Jo is well worth her wage. She asked for a bit more than I intended to pay, however it has worked out to be so worth it! I don’t do a lot of floor anything now! I just call Sallie Jo and get her on it. I can’t recommend her enough! You can’t have my Sallie Jo, but I encourage you to get your own!

Wonderful tool to keep floors beautifully clean!
This robot mop and vacuum is life altering and allows one’s home, well floors, to be cleaned on auto pilot. Honestly, it feels like I am living on the set of the Jetsons. If you want a deep-cleaning experience, this bot will make you feel like Alice lives with you!The robot vacuum is super easy and intuitive to set up out of the box. It was super easy for me to set it up on my home's wifi network and I am not tech savvy at all. Once set up the mapping feature got right to work. After mapping I set her to work mopping and vacuuming my floors. She is so quiet I didn’t even notice her entering the room I was in. The edge cleaning is clutch in a home with 4 kids, a dog and a cat.The self emptying feature is so nice so I don’t have to worry about emptying the bot every single day. It’s super quiet even when emptying. Both the water and dust self empty, so you really do not have to worry about either on a daily basis. The auto clean of the mop pads is also super neat. This feature is the loudest yet still quiet. I couldn’t hear it in the next room over. My son sleeps in the bedroom behind the wall of the robot and it does not bother him.The obstacle avoidance works flawlessly. I have a couple of patio doors with fall offs and the boy avoids the area like a charm. The map has an option to set to avoid certain spaces I set up a space to avoid just to make certain it worked for when we put up a holiday tree. I am delighted to report that the feature worked as expected. Super stoked for this feature during the holiday season.Highly recommend this robot vacuum and mop if you are in the market for one. It’s truly freed up a ton of time for us. Our floors are super clean without expending any time or energy on them.

This is so far the best bang for the buck.
The media could not be loaded. Let me set the stage on why a robot vacuum is an essential tool for me by introducing the members of my household, aka the source of the mess.**Subject 1 - My 3-year-old daughter:** Cute, adorable, sweet, a drama llama; she’s everything I could wish for. Despite my wife and I washing her hands 500 times a day, she manages to maintain a pair of sticky, oily hands with a hint of grape juice and cheddar cheese Goldfish.**Subject 2 - White senior rescued Standard Poodle:** The perfect partner in crime to my 3-year-old. While my daughter stamps her little oily hands on my wood floor, my poodle spreads that oil like you spread Miracle Whip on bread.**Subject 3 - Red senior rescued Doberman:** A literal walking pine tree. Oh, don’t be deceived by his thin layer of hair without an undercoat. He drops so many red "pine needles" that if he gets lost in my neighborhood, I could probably retrieve him by following his trail of hairs. The fact that he sheds so much yet hasn’t gone bald is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.I bought a T20 Omni(the previous generation to the T30S I am reviewing today) last year, used it; was somewhat satisfied with it, and now bought this new T30s so I can move my T20 to my second floor and have my T30s takes care of the 1st floor instead. The purchase has transformed my house chores in a way that I no longer need to vacuum and mop my floor; I can now finally provide undivided attention between listening to my wife and washing dishes. Here are a few points to note. Otherwise, I have no complaint with the T30sMapping:I can't stress how important mapping is to any new robot vacuum, a good map dictates:a. the machine's obstacle avoidance ability,b. the robot's path algorithm, andc. room division and cleaningThe T30S consistently mapped my 1st floor about 2 to 3 times faster than my T20 Omni. Not only that, but I was able to create a fully functional map on the 2nd try. On my T20 Omni, I could get a not-so-perfect map maybe after 8 tries, if I was blessed by the Lord of Light.Mapping Confusion:Both the T30s and the T20 Omni have issues scanning my rear sliding door. The laser penetrates the glass and mistakes my outdoor patio floor for another room; because of this, it creates an open-ended space; this confuses the heck out of the app and makes in-app room division extremely annoying. Here's my fix, I took my daughter's roll of art paper, with the help of blue tape, (which can be purchased from, yours truly "Amazon") created a faux barrier at the laser's height.Cabinet Toe Kick Issue:The T30s is about a quarter of an inch shorter than my T20 Omni. On spec, it doesn’t mean much, but in real life, this makes a world of difference. My T20 Omni’s laser just so happens to be high enough that the laser catches my kitchen’s lowest drawer and thinks it’s a wall; this causes the T20 to altogether skip the edge by the toe kick, which is usually the dirtiest place. The T30s scans the toe kick properly and cleans the floor right up to the toe kick.Edge Cleaning:I am pretty sure my T20 Omni was secretly an animal rights activist, especially toward the ant in my house; it never cleans the edge, and I mean any edge. There was always a 3-inch moat against my wall and furniture, to provide a bike lane for my resident house ants. The T30s, on the other hand, sends its little protruding arm and mops all the way to the edge.Map Lost Issue:In the first 2 months of my T20 Omni’s ownership, the app would lose either the robot’s last location or the entire map for the most ridiculous reasons. - My wifi router had a firmware update and restarted during the night? The map was gone - There was a power outage? The map was gone - My mother-in-law wasn’t having a good day? poof, the map was gone.I could sneeze at my T20 Omni and I bet ya the map would be gone.I give props to Ecovacs for listening to customers’ complaints. I am happy to say they have completely rectified the issue on the T30s. In the last 2 weeks that I have been using my T30s, I’ve had multiple occasions in which I thought it would fall into the map lost loop and thrash my saved map right out the window and it didn’t. It was able to immediately locate itself and get back to the base station. No more, “Houston, we’ve had a problem.” issue.Base Station Water Tank:This is probably the only gripe I have on the T30s; c’mon Ecovacs, how do you go backward on your water tank design? The T20 Omni was equipped with an extremely sturdy water tank with hard clear plastic and a springed lid latch that simply provided confidence. There is a sense of reassurance when the latch clinches to the tank with a mechanical thud, that I can hold the tank by the top handle and not worry about the lid swinging open and pouring the water down my floor. The T30s uses a much softer plastic and the latch is only tension-loaded by the strength of the plastic.Overall:I am extremely happy about the T30s. It strikes the perfect balance between function and price. I wholeheartedly recommend anyone considering a robot vacuum to take a serious look at the T30s.
