Two devective cables
I recently added a TS-440s to my collection and added the chips for computer interfacing, and picked up one of these cables to complete the interface. The first one would send back a bunch of garbage data until I rebooted the radio and was returned. The second one would not get the radio to respond at all. I found a shorted pin on the serial chip in the cable (see picture) and cleaned up the poor soldering, but the repair was ineffective and necessitated returning the 2nd one as well.I can confirm that the cables were at fault as I also have a cable with the same part number that I use on my TS-940s that also works perfectly on my TS-440s.I will be attempting a DIY cable or finding an IF-232 level shifter so I can use real RS-232.

This is not for the TS-690S (sounds very similar to the TS-690, but no, they are not the same).
I thought it would work for the TS-690S, but it does not fit.

USB Connector RED ground wire on wrong PAD
Interface did not work with TS-450s radio. received random garbage whenever radio was polled (ID;).Shorted pins 2/3 together on Din connector (T/R), with good echo, thought radio was bad. Found another users comment about same problem. The RED Ground wire was connected next to GRN Rrx PAD. Moved RED ground wire one PAD over next to +5 PAD and radio communication then work fine.[Rtx] WHT------------------[Rrx] GRN-------------------[G ] N/C[ G ] RED-------------------[+5 ] N/C

Fine on W10 and Ubuntu
I see there are quite a few bad reviews. Not sure why??For Windoze I downloaded the CH340 driver from "SparkFun"and it worked well on W10. On Ubuntu, it already supportsthe CH340 chipset, so worked just by plugging it in.BTW-- This is on the TS-450SAT. I will admit the qualityof the cable is not as good as some I have seen, But it seemsto work well, without issue. YMMV but "if it lasts" it was a gooddeal.
