Nikwax Tech Wach an TX. Direct Wash-In (Pack of 2)

My waterproofs lose their water resistance long before they wear out, so refreshing them once in a while with this solution extends their useful life considerably.In my experience it does not restore the garment to its ‘as new’ performance. A new waterproof will have excellent water repellency and be durable to boot. I find this product restores the performance to a ‘good’ level, but my coat will still saturate more quickly than it did when it was new.That said, I use this on my hiking gear so we’re talking relatively extreme conditions compared to walking around town. If you just want to revive an old coat to keep the drizzle off your back it will probably be more than adequate.When it comes to measuring the solution I would err on the side of being generous. Don’t be tempted to sneak an extra garment in the wash. I tried doing that and it definitely works better if you follow the instructions closely.

Being a Rambler and having to be prepared for all weathers clean waterproof clothing are essentials. These two products are so easy to use and importantly they work!

As a waterproofing agent it is great.For use in washing machine.......wash as per instructions. If you are going to use the same method to proof the garment wait until the next day and do it on a cool wash.I did it one after the other and due to the heat of the washer it created tiny white bobbles on the garment which eventually did brush off with a clothes brush.......next time I will proof it in the bath.However it's a tried and tested product and I wouldn't use anything else.

The product was good for refreshing the waterproofing layers on my jackets, unfortunately it did not clean them at all, they came out of the washing machine with the same level of dirtiness as they went in. And they are just everyday jackets, for going to work, they do not get very dirty.

Cannot rate the product for warmth as that is dependent on the garment.Products are very easy to use, the washing effects are very good, jacket came up as new and is now fully waterproof again.

Great product

Have always used the Nikwax waterproofers and still the same quality. Very easy to measure out and use and jackets, trousers and even trainers have come out very well treated and make the water just bead off them. These are my go to for sorting out any waterproof clothes! I tend to find you can use slightly less or put in more items and still get good results but that’s just me trying to make it more cost effective!

These two treatments have done a pretty good job of cleaning and reproofing my favourite rain proof jacket and a Hi Vis jacket that had also become somewhat rebarbative. The rain proof coat has since been tested in driving rain in the outer Hebrides and its at least as waterproof as it was before. Its as well that there is enough for another few washes as I have already got my coat a bit dirty again.
