I recently used the Red Star Active Dry Yeast (2-pound pouch, $8.99) for Pizza Night, and I was beyond impressed! I’ve been using Fleischmann’s Active Dry Yeast for years, which works fine, but I’d read glowing reviews about Red Star and decided to give it a try. Let me tell you—it absolutely lives up to the hype!Using the same reliable recipe, tools, and conditions I always use (including identical water temperature and sugar), I noticed a significant improvement at every step. The froth and activity level were much higher with Red Star, and the smell! Oh, the smell--it was so much more bread-y and enticing, enhancing the whole experience.I prepared enough dough for eight crusts (with half to freeze), and the dough rounds rose beautifully under tea towels. This yeast is a game changer for home baking. The quality and performance truly stand out, and everything worked out perfectly.If I had to make a complaint, it would be that the bag isn’t resealable. While I wrapped it tightly with an elastic band and stored it in a freezer bag, a built-in closure would have been more convenient.Highly recommend if you’re looking for a reliable, high-performing yeast for bread, pizza, or any baking project!

I make a lot of bread. This is the bag that was in my mom's fridge growing up. I'm not even sure she's ever replaced it in the 30-ish years I remember even noticing it. It's the brand you know, and it's yeast. Exactly the same taste, smell, and quality I remember from when I was younger. Every loaf it's in is childhood comforr in a bite.I'd probably pay more for it, but glad I don't have to.

Red Star active dry yeast is my brand of choice. I have used it for years for all types of breads and doughs, and it never disappoints.This 2 lb package will last several months for me, and once I open it I will keep it in the refrigerator. I always use 2 tsp for every load of bread I make, and it is perfect every time.Highly recommend!

This is a natural Active dry yeast and owned by a family business. Well worth the price

If you do any baking with yeast, this is a great product. It rises well and will last you a while. I place the yeast we are currently using in a jar in the fridge and wrap up any extra to store in the freezer. All of it works.

I ordered 3 packs, 2 were vacuumed sealed but one wasn’t, not sure if the one not vacuumed will work. Haven’t tried it yet.

Was surprised by the relatively recent production date, so product, at least in my case, was fresh. Good deal.
