This ink pad is a nice jet black, it does not have any purple tone to it like others that I have tried. I would say it only feels about 75% wet though, almost like it's been used a few times, though it hasn't. The deep color outweighs the slight dryness feel.

I can't tell if this ink pad is low quality or if the design of the lid dried it out before it got to me. I have a feeling it's the former. The pad arrived sealed in plastic but the hinge lid has gaps in it when closed, I think based on the design even if the pad was properly juiced to begin with it would dry out very quickly. It does not properly coat the stamp and I cannot get a clear image using it. I bought from this brand to replace my Color Box ink pad, that one lasted me for YEARS but now it's too dry to get a clear image. Still, my old ink pad works better than this brand new one. So I'm pretty disappointed in the quality for the price. I reached out to Ranger to inquire about a replacement or refund. I'm willing to adjust my review based on how they respond. If you go ahead and buy this ink pad, you might want to get a bottle of ink to refill it in case it arrives dry.
