A staple in our family's pantry
A staple in our family's pantry, we originally got this for a specific recipe but it has such great umami we use it in other things too. Unless you use a lot, it doesn't have a strong mushroom flavor, but it definitely enhances the depth of flavor overall.

This brand of bouillon has been delicious. It's full bodied, adds ton of taste, a little goes a long way. But it's super salty! It's a gel/paste in a jar so don't use much and add no salt or such until you have this in the dish first. If you're salt sensitive, I'd be super careful because it's that salty. But having said that, I've used it without trouble and I'm salt sensitive, I just use very little in a large amount of liquid or a 6+ portion dish. I've also only used the vegetarian items (mushroom, carnalized onion, faux chicken, faux beef, & veggie). I'm sure the others are also excellent but I've not tried them myself.

As good as advertised
As all Better than Boullion products, this one is quite concentrated. I liked the flavor alone, and in a beef barley soup it blended well with other aromatics and seasonings. Good product.

Vegetarian umami in a jar for boosting savory flavor depth. Contains milk, soy and yeast products.
I was already a fan of several of the Better Than Bouillion product line flavors when I discovered this one. It's great. Just add a teaspoon or so to sauces, soups, anything that needs a savory, salty umami boost on top of the other flavors you've already got. (Another favorite umami boost is Lee Kum Kee premium oyster-flavored sauce, the good stuff made from real oysters.) Its consistency is a thick jelly, so it is very easy to spoon out a teaspoonful or so and dissolve it in hot stock. The label says to refrigerate after opening, but I leave it on a cool kitchen shelf and use it up in a couple of months with no problem.The ingredient list is long and it does contain salt and ingredients derived from milk and soy. Here is the entire list:Mushrooms, salt, hydrolyzed soy protein, corn syrup solids, sugar, onion and garlic powder, soy flour, corn oil, maltodextrin, cultured whey, natural flavors, disodium inosinate and disodium guanilate, caramel color, glucose, annato and turmeric.My replacement jar arrived today and its printed expiration date is more than about 14 months away, a good margin. It was well wrapped and cushioned and arrived intact. Large grocery stores and health food stores sometimes carry this product, though it is harder to find than the chicken, beef and vegetable flavors (all of which I recommend too).
