This capture card is so affordable. Easy to use and a quality product

Converting video to digital is not as easy as it seems and there are many options. This one does the trick but if you do a little research, you’ll see that you need to be a little more involved with it and probably spend a bit more money if you want a cheap quick way to do a conversion that will do it just fine.

I am a college student in my dorm room, and I figured out cable is included with my dorm. In an effort to take advantage of this, I got a gimicky COAX to USB device that didn't work. After that bust, I just got a cheap TV box, figuring I would use the USB slot on the front and plug my headphones into that for sound. No luck, so now I needed another option. I noticed the RCA connectors on the back of the box, and figured I might be able to use those for sound. Doing a little bit of looking on Amazon, I found this. It was affordable, easy to set up, and did exactly what I wanted it to do. I connected this device to my PC, opened up OBS, set it up as a sound source, and turned on playback, effectively allowing me to hear the audio from my TV box on my PC. There is a little bit of static, but it is negligible at low volumes and is likely the fault of the cheap TV box, not the capture card itself. The capture card is high quality, easy to use, and filled the niche use I hoped it would no problem.

Best $10 I ever spent. Using on a Sony 8mm video camera. Saving 25 year old videos to my laptop. It works awesome once you learn the suggested FREE software. I tried VLC Player but it didn’t work as well for me. Both PotPkayer and OBS Studio very well. Get rave enough about this.

Won’t work. Downloaded OBS. Followed every step to a T. No video seen on screen so can to concert VHS tapes. Not user friendly nor easy. Spent hours trying to set up to no avail. Will be returning.

After finally being given the “keys to the kingdom” of my childhood, consisting of a board of Hi8 tapes, DV tapes and VHS tapes, I had my work cut out for me when it came to digitizing everything.After being quoted over $2000 for them to be converted by a local shop (please for the love of god, do your research as some of these places suck. Check YouTube for proof if you need it), I decided to purchase a Hi8 tape player, a DV one, and VCR from eBay and Facebook marketplace. This little gadget was the only missing piece of the puzzle. The picture quality, connectivity and quality of the cable itself seemed outstanding given its small and convenient size.In terms of “ease of setup”, I would say that it really depends on your operating system, tech skills, common sense, and willingness to possibly run to the store for an additional cable when needed. I was able to watch a helpful YouTube video that outlined exactly what cables I SHOULD have needed. But, this little guy eliminated the need for 2-3 of them.If you are planning to digitize your repertoire of old tapes and go the route I did of buying your own cameras, I CANNOT stress enough the importance of not only purchasing a working camera, but one with a clean “Head” to it. A tape used to clean the head of a Hi8 camera can run up to $100. Look it up if you’re unfamiliar and do your research.These are your memories and likely most treasured possessions and I was very pleased with this cable and its ease of use. In total I spent MAYBE $250, a far cry from the couple grand a local shop wanted to charge (with no guarantees they’d actually be able to successfully get everything from each tape.)
