More Assembly Than Expected - But Still Very Cool

This could be a great first miniature project if you know what you're getting into, some tip's I would give:1. A decent pair of scissors (the ones it comes with are trash). Those little flowers that are yellow/red/orange - you cut those from tissue paper and they are VERY small.2. A sharp set of tweezers will help you place items and also poke holes in paper where needed to thread items through (for example putting the flower stem through the flowers)3. Small cheap paint brushes - This is a MUST in my opinion. You will want these to "paint" the glue on when assembling small pieces. There is no way you could do this straight from the glue bottle. You can also add a little water to hobby glue to thin it and it dries clear - great for the flower box and applying the little red bits to the green sponge piece.4. Sanding stick - You can glue some fine sand paper to a popsicle stick. It will help remove any bur's from the wood pieces so they look and fit nicer.5. Hot glue gun - You'll want this for some parts so they are more sturdy. Some of the metal pieces you put together (specifically the mirror) will need the hot glue gun, we tried gorilla glue first and it wasn't working. Some of the reviews make it seem like this can be build in a few hours, there's no way they are talking about the Magic Book House kit. There is a LOT of cutting and assembly of very small pieces. I expected it to be a box full of small pieces you arrange, but you're actually building everything - flowers, books, book shelves, pictures that are hung on the walls, etc. which is fine, just know what you're getting into.I have experience with miniatures (40k/models) and this is easily as complex as them. This has lived on my dining room table now for a few weeks and we are just starting to see the finish line. Maybe if you spent a whole weekend you could get this done but you're back and hands would be sore. Taking off one star because like other reviewers, the kit was missing a few pieces (part of the lantern) - but I think it will still look amazing once completed.

Actually really detailed, not the easiest thing to build, looks great.

I actually got this as a nice thing to do with my brother's family. It was a good set to build with his family on Friday night. My nephew absolutely loves to build things. This set was definitely harder to build than many other set. There are small pieces but at least all the pieces are made of sturdy material so you do not have to worry about it breaking off easily. One thing to be aware of is that this set is not the easiest to build. On a scale of 1 to 10. I would say it is about a 9 because of all the small pieces. Regardless, it was really fun to build together with my family. My nephew really enjoyed this set after it was completed. I puts it in his room on the shelf now. Again it has a ton of small pieces and takes a bit of a delicate hand. There are pieces you can easily lose if you are not careful. It can provide several hours of build time for you. The house honestly is pretty big so make sure you actually have shelf space or an area to put this once it is completed. The house gives me a bit of a harry potter vibe just based on the decorum. I do like having the lighting to help match the house. The house itself is VERY detailed. I am able to put like mini figures on this as well just to add some people to this. The piece itself is not too heavy so you can easily move this around if needed just do not drop it. It is somewhat easy to dust as needed. Overall I would say this is a very nice house set to have if you are into model building. It is pretty difficult to build and not exactly for little kids. The pieces are pretty small. I do like all the decorations and how detailed this is. The material is very and well designed.

Frustrating

Be prepared that this is more frustrating (or "challenging," your preference of word choice) than other book nooks or miniatures. Considering I do white card models for fun and D&D terrain and I've helped friends with their minis, I thought this would be up my alleyExample:Pros, very detailed prints.Cons, you have to cut out every single detailed print with scissors, and I switched to my Olfa when scissors were cramping my hand.It was already a bit too frustrating and time consuming with the few pieces I did, so I did the cost/benefit analysis for how long it would take based on a representative pieces. Then I spread out all the paper details I would have to cut out and realized that life is too short for this.3 stars because there are good details, but a few changes would make this more fun to actually assemble.

Cute kit

My daughter gave this to me for Christmas. I just finished it. I’ve done a few of these type kits so I knew what to expect. It came out great. The only problem I had was the tabs not quite fitting the holes on the building portion. I shaved them down to fit easily though. I read some complaints about the stairs not fitting. I had no issue. They went together easily.

A lot of fun. Well worth the money.

Bad directions and poor quality control

I eventually gave up with this and tossed it in the trash. The directions are not well done and the tools that come with the kit suck. I managed to slog through building all the accessories but the buildings walls would not go together correctly (either the holes were not in the correct places or I did not put it together correctly due to the bad directions). I literally couldn't do anything else because the floors wouldn't go on. It made me sad to have put all that work into it and not be able to finish.
