Why Moth Traps are needed

I have 3 x Young Fruit tree's, 1 apple, 1 Plum, & 1 Pear, the traps work well for catching Moths, But there are a number of other pests that attack the trees & Thier fruit, But the traps are an important part of the arsenal needed to combat these pests

Does catch the moths !

I've used these for a few years now, as they do catch the moths intended, & prevent the fruit being damaged by the grubs. It's fairly easy to assemble, following the instructions. You just have to fold it in sequence shown. You insert the sticky pad, after making the "tent like" part, and then add the pheromone ( looks like a large plastic bead) ,which attracts the male moths I think to their fate. It's a light weight construction, so I add some twine around mine when in the tree as they do get moved about in the wind. It has a wire hanging handle.Effective product in my experience.

Lousy instructions

I cannot yet comment on its performance as only just put it up BUT the instructions for the lure are useless. They talk about a translucent plastic film to peel off - there is none. They talk about a white sachet - there is no white sachet. So you are left guessing whether to cut open the foil sachet - so you do. Inside there is a green sachet with no translucent film to peel off. So you guess you have to cut it open. So you do. Then inside is a crystal-like presumably lure. So you guess you have to put it back in the cut green sachet and fold it up and put it in the cage (which goes together ok). Too much guesswork needed for what is an expensive product. Hope what I have done is ok and the product works but the instructions are worse than useless!

Great effective product

Mine is a new tree, 2nd year and only 4 plums, all ruined with plum maggots. This year I followed the instructions to the letter. I have a tree full of plums and they’re all beautiful. All the machines are stuck inside the little green trap. Will most definitely be getting another one next year.

It works!

I was really sceptical when my partner asked me to order this but it was so cheap I gave it a try and it works we have lived here for 7 summers and using this this year means we have apples with no worms in!! we can eat them got one for our neighbour too and his apple tree is the same as ours!

Easy to use/set up and it works

Easy to use and set up: currently 3 stars and awaiting details on the amount of male fruit moths captured (see UPDATE). The female scent is a rubber plug (much like an eraser on the top of some pencils). Place in centre of card and placed on tree in the middle of May 2015. Used string to tie onto study branch as the hanger is similar to a metal clothes hanger, so would damage the bark. My Plum tree is full of immature plums and approximately 30% of last years crop was infested with small green grubs. Used sticky stem wraps in the winter (Nov 2014-May2015) : little late I know to capture wingless female moths)) and followed up with this to capture the males. We report on capture rate later hence the 3 stars. UPDATE: Trap used between May-October 2015 and seemed to work effectively (see photo). Very good crop and no plum month infestation. Combined with Grease band between October 2014-May 2015. Increased to 4 stars after use in the field (one mature only). - urban environment
